IOM Is Hiring a Migration Health Nurse in South Africa :Full Job Details Inside

This Migration Health Nurse position covers a broad clinical and administrative scope, including:

• Medical examinations — checking vital signs, weight, height, and visual acuity; collecting blood, urine, or sputum samples as required
• Imaging and laboratory testing coordination
• Vaccinations and TB management
• Treatment and referrals, including pre-departure procedures and medical movements
• Documentation, certification, and information transmission
• Patient counselling — providing migrants and refugees with clear information on the health assessment process, treatments, and referrals
• Identification and follow-up — comprehensive history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification at every step
• Sample handling — verifying that sputum, blood, or other samples are properly transported for testing
• Pharmacy and stock management — maintaining the MHAC pharmacy, medical kits, and emergency kits
• TB and HIV counselling — providing pre- and post-test education, prevention guidance, and management support
• Medical escort duties when required, ensuring continuity of care throughout migration
• Mobile mission support and pre-departure briefing assistance
• Statistical reporting to the Senior Migration Health Nurse or Chief Migration Health Officer

As a Migration Health Nurse, the successful candidate will also maintain collaborative relationships with internal IOM departments, panel physicians, embassies, other UN agencies, and NGOs to support coordinated care.
